Standard Form Objective: To graph the equation of a line in Standard Form from give information. Warm – up: Write the following equations in Standard Form. 1) 2x – 9 = (⅗)y2) (5, 8), (3, 2)3) (0, 5); m = 3
2
Standard Form Intercepts. o What is an intercept? o When have we seen them before? o How are they written? o What do they stand for/ what do they mean on a graph? Solving for an intercept. o An x-intercept is written (x, 0) o A y-intercept is written (0, y) o Just plug these ordered pairs into the equation to find the intercept! o 2x + y = 6
3
Standard Form Find the x and y intercepts. o 7x + 5y = 35 o x – 5y = 15 o 3x – y = 6 o 5x + 6y = 30
4
Standard Form Graph the equation from the given intercepts. o x-intercept: 2 y-intercept: 3 o x-intercept: -3 y-intercept: 5
5
Standard Form Graph the equation from the given intercepts. o x-intercept: 4 y-intercept: -1 o x-intercept: -2 y-intercept: -4
6
Standard Form Find the x and y intercepts and graph the equation. o 6x – 12y = 36 o 4x – 8y = -16
7
Standard Form Graph the equation from the given intercepts. o 5x + 4y = -20 o x – y = 6
