3 HISTORY Original Penn Station was completed in 1910 and designed by McKim, Mead, and White Alexander Cassatt envisioned and funded the project It was demolished in 1963 due to decrease activity and use of the railroads due to the Jet Age and the Interstate Highway System Replaced by Madison Square Garden Rebuilt in 1968 and completely underground “Penn Station did not make you feel comfortable; it made you feel important.” –Hillary Ballon

4 PROBLEM -It is very confusing to navigate -It is also very intimating -When waiting for train, the waiting area is crowded and hectic

5 SOLUTION Expand the waiting room Designate which track each train is going to be on Make it less intimating
