Changing the order of addition or multiplication does not change the sum/product. Examples : 2 + 3=3 + 2 7 * 9=9 * 7
3
Changing the grouping of addition or subtraction does not change the sum/product. Examples : (2+3)+5=(3+5)+2 (4*5)*10=(10*5)*4
4
Addition : Any number plus zero will not change. Multiplication : The product of 1 and any number or variable will stay the same. Examples : 4+0=4 9*1=9
5
The product of a number and a sum is equal to the sum of the numbers in addition and the multiplication number. Examples : 5(3+1)= 5*3 + 5*1 a(b+c)= a*b + a*c
6
If you add, subtract, multiply or divide on one side you must do it to the other. Examples : (9+6)*7=(10+5)*7
7
Addition : For every number, add/subtract the opposite. Multiplication : For every number, multiply/ divide 1 times/divide by the number. Examples : n+(-n)=0 n*(1/n)=1
