1. AV120 – Summative Project Art Historical Tea Pots

2. Project Description You will be making a tea pot and two tea cups out of clay for your summative project. You may make more (a full tea set with saucers, milk jug, sugar bowl etc.) if you wish and only if you have time. You will need to plan how to finish your work with underglaze or glaze.

3. You need to base the design of your tea pot on one of the following Art History topics that you have studied in this course… –Chinese Art –Indian Art –Islamic Art –Early Christian - Gothic Art *Consider the shape, decoration, and finish of the tea pot when designing with the art history in mind.

4. Proposals A full proposal will need to be completed before you are able to begin working in clay. I will provide mayfair paper for these proposals. –It needs to include colour drawings of the pot and cups, large and fully detailed. –You need to indicate which construction techniques you will use. You must use hand-building techniques, such as pinch pot, coil and/or slab. –Include the names of the underglazes and/or glazes you plan to use. –Include a paragraph in which you discuss which Art History topic you have chosen, and how you have represented that culture/art in your own work. For example, if you make a ganesh elephant teapot and cups, you must discuss the significance of Ganesh in Indian art and culture on your proposal.

6. Criteria
