2 RECALL SOME VOLUNTEER WORK YOU HAVE DONE IN THE PAST Some volunteer work I have done in the past is the Sri Lanka Mission trip. We did hundreds of hours of work in order to raise $7000 for the schools in Mannar which involved making school booklets, purchasing educational games, market days, high tea and many other fundraisers such as selling food. It took us about 18 months to plan for the 2 week trip which was a life changing experience. I made many new friends and I now have a new home away from home.

3 VISIONS OF THE DE LA SALLE BROTHERS SRI LANKA The De La Salle Brothers officially commenced their ministry at St. Benedicts College in Sri Lanka (Ceylon) on 1st May 1868. They serve in formal and non-formal institutions in Sri Lanka to cater the need for education of children and youth. Government Schools, Private Schools, Nursery Schools, Vocational Training Schools, Hostels, Community Center and Home for Internally Displaced Children are the main institutions that they have in Sri Lanka. These institutions extend their services to 19548 children and youth with 990 Lasallian Teachers. The institutions they run in Mannar are: De La Salle House Mannar St. Xavier’s College Mannar La Salle Kids’ Campus Mannar La Sale Keeri Farm St. Anne’s MMV Vankalai Nanattan MMV Adampan Community

4 WHAT I LEARNT FROM MY EXPERIENCE That it is a privilege to have food, clan water, education, a democratic government and a stable home.
