What is an essay? An essay is a detailed written answer to a question or a short piece of writing on a particular subject.

The components of an essay 1:Introduction 2:Body 3: Conclusion An essay is NOT a list of questions followed by answers.

Introduction This is where your topic and point of view or stance is introduced to your audience. ○ Key components: Explain your topic and what you will be writing about A grabber

Body Needs to be at least one paragraph, but can be many more. The answers to your question(s), argument, information about your topic are all organized into a sensible and coherent manner.

Conclusion This is where your topic is wrapped up. You restate your topic and the stance you have on it.

How do questions become an essay. Questions: What is your favorite subject in school? What is your least favorite subject? What grade are you in? What school do you go to?

You try. Interview your neighbor and turn I into a paragraph What is your favorite color? What is your favorite animal? What is your favorite TV show? What is you favorite food? What is your favorite hobby?

Take those answers and organize them into a paragraph.

Work Time: In your HOMEWORK book using the answers to your homework questions turn the answer to #1 into an introduction.
