Head injury refers to any damage to the scalp, skull, or brain - Closed & Penetrating - Closed most relevant to sport Definition of Head Injuries

Acute Injury – Single Trauma

Signs & Symptoms Occur soon after the head injury, or hours or days later if the injury is more severe: Headache with nausea & vomiting Blurred or double vision Slurred speech Confusion or drowsiness Loss of consciousness Blood or clear fluid from the ears or nose Minor head injuries may cause -Headache, -Bruising, -Swelling and cuts.

Treatment - Never move the casualty (unless in danger). - Never leave the casualty unattended. - Assess situation -Send for medical help DANGER RESPOND AIRWAY BREATHING CIRCULATION DRABCDRABC
