2. C. Upper Extremities 1. Consists of 60 bones a. Includes humerus, ulna, radius, carpals, metacarpals, and phalanges 2. Humerus- (arm bone) longest and largest bone in the upper extremities a. Proximal end is a head that goes into the glenoid cavity of the scapula

3. 1. Head sits on an anatomical neck b. Where the bone turns and goes into the diaphysis is the surgical neck (commonly broke) c. Body (shaft) is rounded proximally and becomes triangular and flat d. distally are found two attachment points

4. 1. Capitulum- attaches to the radius 2. Olecranon fossa attaches to the ulna e. Ulnar nerve (funny bone) is posterior to the medial epicondyle

6. 3. Ulna bone of the medial aspect of the forearm a. Proximal end is the olecranon which is the elbow b. Attaches proximally with the radius at the coranoid process c. Distal end has a head that is separated from the wrist by fibrocartilage

8. 4. Radius- bone of the lateral aspect of the forearm a. Articulates proximally by a head with the capitulum of the humerus and the radial notch/ coronoid process of the ulna b. Medially concave with the ulnar notch distally
