DIME Goals address and analyze (1) the generation, accumulation, and exchange of knowledge; (2) governance, institutional frameworks and public policies; and (3) social and spatial proximity as influencing cohesion address contemporary challenges facing the European Union in managing the transition to a knowledge-based economy and society in the context of EU-enlargement and of the globalization of the economy integrate various social sciences approaches, including, among others, economics, geography and management science, and research activities going on in the enlarged EU and outside

The network Open structure: entry and activities open to outsiders Around 50 participating institutes, from 18 countries (5 New member States, 1 Associate Member) Main disciplines: Economics, Geography, Management; smaller disciplines: sociology, law, political science, history

The programme 3 Research Action Lines –Dynamics of Individual and Organisational Knowledge in a Regional Context (micro) –The creation, accumulation and exchange of knowledge in networks, sectors, and regions (meso) –Dynamics of knowledge acccumulation, competitivenss, regional cohesion and economic policies : a micro-to-macro approach (macro) 3 Structural Activity Lines –Integrating and developing training activities associated with DIME –Developing the information structure of DIME –Dissemination to and interacting with stakeholders
