3 What is APHG? Designed by a committee of higher education faculty and expert AP teachers Designed to reflect college and university-level expectations Almost all colleges will grant credit for a passing score on the APHG exam – Check college websites for specific credit information (ask me if you have questions) – I went to Western Washington University and they gave you 4 credits (equals Environmental Studies 204) for a score of 3 or higher (I got a 4) GO VIKINGS!

4 How many people take APHG? APHG started in 2011 2002: 97,762 students 2012: 191,773 students One of the fastest growing AP tests A choropleth map (from Greek χώρο ("area/region") + πλήθος ("multitude")) is a thematic map in which areas are shaded or patterned in proportion to the measurement of the statistical variable being displayed on themap, such as population density or per-capita income.

5 Just tell me about the test… Last day of the AP Exams – (This means lots of time for review!!!!!!) 2 hours and 15 minutes – Multiple Choice: 75 questions in 60 minutes 50% of your exam score Define, explain, and apply geographic concepts Interpret geographic data – Free Response: 3 questions in 75 minutes 50% of your exam score Synthesize different topical areas Analyze/evaluate geographical concepts Supply appropriate and real-world examples to illustrate geographic concepts Interpret visual sources of data Formulate responses in narrative form
