2 I lift up my eyes (1-2) Looking to the hills – looking forward toward something –Looking to the hills – looking forward toward something – Zion, heaven, physical hills, etc. Hebrews 12:1-2 Proverbs 4:26, Ponder the path of your feet, And let all your ways be established.

3 I lift up my eyes (1-2) From whence comes my help –From whence comes my help – what is my ultimate source of hope? Not a bad question. Make sure of your salvation! 2 Peter 1:10, 2 Corinthians 13:4 Many today are looking in the wrong places!

4 I lift up my eyes (1-2) My help comes from the LORD –My help comes from the LORD – as opposed to any other “Lord”. Who will you choose? Joshua 24:15, Psalm 54:4 Hebrews 13:5-6 Our Lord made the heavens and the earth Genesis 1:1-2, Acts 4:24 Psalm 33:6, “By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.”

5 The LORD is in control (3-4) He will not allow your foot to be moved (slip) –He will not allow your foot to be moved (slip) – He can keep us from stumbling! Proverbs 3:23-26 He is in control! Proverbs 19:21, cf. 1 Corinthians 10:13 2 Peter 2:9

6 The LORD is in control (3-4) He who keeps you will not slumber –He who keeps you will not slumber – He is ALWAYS there! God doesn’t take time off Isaiah 40:27-31 Matthew 28:18-20 He who keeps Israel – their history reveals that He was there. They left Him!

7 The LORD is your helper (5-6) The Lord is your keeper –The Lord is your keeper – He sustains us and protects us. Psalm 145:20, 16:8, 91:1- 2 Matthew 6:28-33, 2 Peter 1:3 – spiritually as well He can preserve us, even eternally – Luke 12:4-5

8 The LORD is your helper (5-6) He is our shade –He is our shade – an illustration of protection and refreshing The sun nor moon shall strike youThe sun nor moon shall strike you – He is there “day and night” – at all times!

9 He shall preserve from evil (7-8) He will preserve you from evil –He will preserve you from evil – He can protect us spiritually as well! Delivering us from evil Pray – Matthew 6:13 1 John 4:4, He IS greater! 2 Timothy 4:17-18, John 17:15, 2 Thessalonians 3:3, 1 Peter 1:5, etc.

10 He shall preserve from evil (7-8) He will preserve your soulHe will preserve your soul Matthew 10:26, cf. John 10:26-30 The Good Shepherd and keeper of His sheep Luke 17:33

11 He shall preserve from evil (7-8) He will preserve your going our and coming in –He will preserve your going our and coming in – again, the point is “at all times” NOTE: It is NOT saying He will preserve one in rebellion

12 He shall preserve from evil (7-8) Now and forever more!Now and forever more! Hebrews 13:8 Romans 16:25-27
