1.The current use of GMOs is increasing antibiotic resistance. – MYTH: in research phase; overuse of antibiotics 2.There have been no recorded cases of health problems due to GM foods – FACT (unsure): not studied long enough, no long-term data 3.Releases dangerous toxins, but none that are harmful to humans. – FACT: for right now, don’t know synergistic effects 4.GMOs do not cause new allergies – FACT: no new allergies, not currently using allergens, possible cure

5. GMOs get into the water causing pollution. – MYTH: Thinking about pesticides! 6. Eating it all my life and I’m fine. – MYTH: you don’t get cancer when you first start smoking cigarettes either 7. GMOs are created by injecting a solution of genes into a plant or animal. – MYTH: a gene is put into the cell of an organism (in a lab), which is then grown into the plant/animal

GE crops may produce new allergens and toxins… MYTH! “Genetic engineering techniques allow us to precisely add genes of known structure and function to crops. It would in principle be possible to engineer corn that expresses anthrax toxin, or introduce peanut allergens into soybeans, but this would have to be by malicious intent of the scientists, not some accident.
