-He was born on February 1, 1902 -First piece of published writing was “The Negro Speaks of Rivers” -Known for writing about the black mans struggle -Published his first book “The Weary Blues” on 1926

Langston gave a voice to many black people who couldn’t speak out on their own. He was an amazing writer and he touched upon many relatable subjects. He had a huge heart and cared for not only blacks but everyone.

Theme: His connection to his ancestors through his veins and strong family ties. Tone: He has love and connection to his family is stronger then rivers. Technique: Alteration, Anaphora, Figurative, Imagery, Line Break.

Theme: The shunning of the black community made whites blind to the rise of the black community. Tone: Even when people are putting you down, you take that as an opportunity to grow strong. Technique: Stanza, Free Verse, Irony, Diction.

Theme: The beautiful song of a black man singing blues. Tone: The deep soul the music gives out can heal any emotional struggle. Technique: Stanza, Line Break, Rhyme Scheme
