INTRODUCTION Clinical assessment a measure to assess clinical competence. Competency could be achieved through successfully completing a skill / task within the given parameters In essence, clinical assessment is the measurement of clinical ability of the learner

Understandably competency denotes that : Effective educating of the learner took place Sufficient learning occurred Ability to perform has been achieved

CONCLUSION Clinical assessment should be viewed beyond the ability of the learner’s behaviour to perform the skill/task but on the level of competency.
