4. REMEMBERING THE PAST Historians remember events and people of the past in many different ways. One of the most public ways of remembering is to design a monument that reflects the people or event. You will work in pairs to create a monument recognizing the key features of Confucianism, Daoism, or Legalism. What is the purpose of a monument? Where are the monuments you have seen?

6. YOUR TASK You will work in assigned pairs to design and illustrate a monument remembering your assigned ancient Chinese school of thought. You should use your textbook or netbook to gather information about your assigned topic. Your monument can take any shape you would like… YOU are the historian in charge of deciding how best to remember the school of thought! Your monument should reflect the philosophies represented by the schools of thought.
