In this power point you will learn about: THE LIVERBUILDING THE RIVER MERSEY RADIO CITY TOWER THE BEATLES ALBERT DOCK

THE LIVERBUILDING The royal Liverbuilding stands on the pier head and is one of the most popular visited landmarks of Liverpool. The construction started on the 11 th May 1908 and was completed in 1911. It is 90 meters (295 feet) tall and has 17 floors. The building has 2 clock towers, the clocks are 7.62 meters (25 feet) in diameter, 76 meters (250 feet) above street level.

THE RIVER MERSEY In the 18 th century, the Mersey Docks in Liverpool were one of the busiest ports. Every year the tall ships race takes place on the River Mersey. Atlantic grey seals, bottlenose dolphins, and harbour porpoise sometimes swim into the estuary of the River Mersey.

RADIO CITY TOWER The Tower was refurbished in 1999 at a cost of £5 million. the studios are on the lower floor; this now holds offices and conference rooms for the radio station. After a brief stint as a the Buck Rogers themed restaurant in 1983 the beacon was mothballed until Radio City took over the tenancy, moving from Stanley Street, witch had been the stations home for over 25 years.

THE BEATLES The Beatles is a famous band in Liverpool, it is so famous that there is even a Beatles museum. The Beatles sung lots Of Songs Together!

THE ALBERT DOCK This is the No.1 tourist attraction in Liverpool. There are several museums (the Tate Liverpool, and the Maritime Museum as well as the Slavery Museum – in the same building – the Liverpool Museum being close by), but more importantly, it’s home to a dozen or so restaurants and cafés strewn along the Albert Dock – most of them fairly pricley.
