3 For Next Time… 1/14 1. Play around with your project page and/or the simple pages. Save your files and be ready to load these. 2. Read Zeldman’s chapters 1 & 2. 3. Look up and read about new vocab: xhtml and CSS, forward and backward compatibility, integrity and portability, accessibility.

4 Today’s Exercise Do the following to the project page template: 1.Add an image 2.Add a link that works (e.g. to our class page) 3. Change the text so that it is appropriate for you - adding your name, etc. 4. Try updating your page from home via FTP too 5. Let’s collect our insights into working with this

6 Html and the trinity of web authoring standards The trinity of web standards: structure, presentation, behaviors. –Structure: text data formatted according to its semantic meaning: headline, secondary headline, paragraph, etc. –Presentation: control the page format, typogrpahy, placement, etc –Behaviors: what it does (links, cues movies, controls content added)

Copy & Paste any 3 or 4 of these into your html file, save the file, then view the file in a browser to see what they do. What do we notice about how html works? What are its strengths & limits? Connect this to the trinity.
