Specialization The devotion of certain resources to a specific task. For example- teachers, doctors, ? It helps bring about experts who can do things better and more efficiently

Division of Labor The act of splitting up work into smaller tasks. – Example- teaching social studies or math, coaching one position on the team. This led to factories and mass production. – Business organizations – assembly lines: Henry Ford/ automobile plants – Increases in technology (invention and innovation) Invention- any form of technology to meet a need Innovation- changing or improving the way things are done.

How Production increases Investing in: – Human capital- that which makes workers more productive (education and training) Unskilled workers – Blue collar jobs (using hands) Skilled workers – White collar jobs (using minds) Some blue collar jobs can be skilled – Electricians, plumbers

New technologies Makes work easier. How? Robotics Automation – Things can be made in less time – Requires fewer workers – Saves a company money over the long term.
