3 History of Sisters-In-Law  In 2012, Retired Police Officer Darlene Crider was presented with an opportunity to continue with an initiative she started while she was with the Baltimore City Police Department from 2006-2008.  From 2006-2008, along with Police Officer Karen Long, they started the program titled, “From Young Girls To Young Ladies”.  During this time, the program was successful, resulting in many of its participants turning their lives around, eventually attending and graduating from college, steady employment and careers in the world of work and military.  In 2012, the program changed its name to “Sisters-In-Law”, a mentoring group comprised of retired female police officers mentoring girls ages 9 and above.

4 Vision of Sisters-In-Law  The vision of Sisters-In-Law is to mentor and inspire mentees to reach their maximum potential by:  Setting Goals  Making Positive Decisions  Increasing Academic Achievement  Providing Positive Principles for Mentees to become responsible young ladies in an ever-changing society  To utilize resources of professional organizations, community support, churches, businesses, government, corporations to enhance the quality of life for all mentees

5 Mission of Sisters-In-Law  The Mission of Sisters-In-Law is to promote the spirit of sisterhood, committed to increasing their community involvement by empowering young girls and ladies through mentoring, motivation and building self-esteem within our communities.

8 Board of Directors  The Board of Directors serves as the “navigator” for the organization. The Board is comprised of individuals from various backgrounds which provide a host of resources and supports for the operation of Sisters-In- Law.  The Board is composed of 9 members and 1 Ex-Officio member (CEO Darlene Crider).  Pastor Marshall Prentice of Zion Baptist Church serves as an advisor to the Board
