2 In the water of Weymouth Bay and Portland Harbor the sailing competition will be. Sailing requires plenty of skill and nerve, with having to have master the water conditions, it truly does take skill. The history of sailing is short, it started in the Paris Summer Olympics in 1900, and ever since the St. Louis summer games in 1904 it has appeared in the Olympics every year. Sailing is a race, it consists of with several races in the Men and Women's league. The final race is the medals race. Sailing is both a technical and tactical sport. Athletes will need to be masters of there boat to create speed and performance while they are sailing there boats. A Fleet race is when three or more competitors are racing against each other. A Match race is when two competitor racing head to head against one another. Port is when you are looking forward and do a left-hand slide on the craft. A Starboard is when you are looking forwards and do a right-hand slide on the craft. A Tacking is when a boat passes through the eye of your wind in order to change the boats direction because it is impossible to sail into the wind, sail boats will zigzag if done so.

3  The sports original name was Yatchling, but in the Sydney 2000 Olympics was changed to sailing instead.  The most successful person to sail was Paul Elvstrom, who won the first four medal in sailing and still competes at the age of 60.  The Crown Prince Oval of Norway won a gold medal in Six-meter sailing competition at the Amsterdam 1928 Olympic Games.
