WIC review 1.What kind of benefit can we get from WIC? Supplementary nutrition food, education, referrals from Dr, breastfeeding equipment 2.Who can receive WIC? Low income preg. women or any age, children up to 5, mothers of babies up to 6 mos, breastfeeding moms up to 1 yr, fathers too- for education, for his kids 3.What kinds of nutritional risks do recipients need to have? Anemia, diabetes, abnormal weight, low calcium, high fat diets How do you prove they have those risks? Dr referrals 4.What is the maximum income limit? What % of the FPL? See the chart- WIC eligibility 5. How do people apply to receive their WIC benefits? Call hotline, go apply- see application process 6.How often do they receive the benefits and how? Every 3 mos, recertification- 3,6,yr---- They come in a check/voucher form- you have to pick them up 7.Can undocumented people receive WIC? Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SNAP review 1.What kind of benefit is SNAP? Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program -- $ for food, uncooked “healthy” food 2.Who can receive SNAP? See “SNAP Eligibility” 3.What is the maximum income limit? What % of the FPL? 4.How do people apply to receive their SNAP benefits? 5.Can different people living in the same house apply to SNAP separately? Yes if they don’t prepare foods together. Young ppl under 18-22- depending on if they’re you biological kids 6.How do you apply for SNAP? On the internet is faster or at the local HRA office or community organizations that help with SNAP applications. DON’T CALL 7.Can undocumented people receive SNAP? How about residents under 5 years?

Example John and Maria are a married couple, ages 40 and 35 respectively. They have a daughter who is 4 years old. John makes $200 a week as a construction worker, and Maria takes care of their daughter at home. John and the daughter are citizens; Maria has been a LPR for 10 years. What benefits do they qualify for?

example 2 Iris is an elderly woman who is 62 years old who has no income. She lives with her daughter and two grandchildren. Her daughter is 24 years old. Iris is a Cuban entrant. What benefits does Iris qualify for?
