2 Multiplying & Dividing Decimal Numbers - Estimation  Multiplying 1. Pretend that the decimals are not there and multiply like normal. 2. The first factor has two decimal places and the second has one decimal place. 2 + 1 = 3 so the product has three decimal places.

3 Multiplying & Dividing Decimal Numbers - Estimation  Multiplying 1. Pretend that the decimals are not there and multiply like normal. 2. The first factor has two decimal places and the second has one decimal place. 2 + 4 = 6 so the product has three decimal places.

4 Dividing decimal numbers 1. Move the decimal point in the divisor to the right to make the divisor a whole number. 2. The decimal point in the dividend must be moved to the right the same number of places. 3. Bring the decimal point straight up.
