3 960,844 828,398 285,972 183,969 Demographics – an Ageing Population NOW 2035 Over the next 20 years the population of West Sussex will increase by 132,000 Most of this increase will be in the 65+ age group, which will increase by 102,000 by 2035 The 85+ age group will double from 28,000 now to over 60,000 in 2035 10,000 people = 65+

4 Geographical Analysis of our Ageing Population The 65+ population will increase across the whole county Arun will see the largest increase, with 22,300 more people aged 65+ by 2035 1,000 people = Increase in 65+ population 2015 to 2035 Compared to current 65+ populations, Horsham and Crawley will see the biggest proportional increases, both increasing by more than 60% from current 65+ populations Sources: ONS mid-2014 population estimates, ONS 2012 based population projections
