3 Graph the inequality 1. Solve the inequality for y 2. Graph the corresponding quadratic equation y = x 2 + 4x – 3. Since the inequality , use a solid curve to indicate that the parabola is part of the solution.

4 3. The values of y > x 2 + 4x – 3 are those in the region above the parabola. Shade this region. 4. Check: Use any convenient test point to verify that the correct region has been shaded. Try (0,0). Yes!
