Definition? A variety of tests have been developed to assess creativity Example 1: The Bouzan Test You have 2 minutes to write down as many different uses of a paper clip as you can. Count up how many different uses you got Divide that number by 2 An average score is 4 8 is rare, 12 is very rare, and 16 is better than 1 in 1,000

What is reliability? What is validity? Morris Shoe-Size Intelligence Test IQ = shoe size x 10 This test is extremely reliable, what does that mean? “Re-tests” provide highly consistent results What’s the problem? It’s not valid – it doesn’t test what it is supposed to

Remote Associates Test (RAT) Creativity involves the ability to see relationships between ideas that are remote from each other Is this test standardized? Yes, administered to a variety of college students & professional organizations, scores reported and analyzed Is it reliable? Yes, upon re-testing, results were remarkably similar between different versions and later test dates Is it valid? Yes, students who had high test scores tended to be rated as highly creative by their research advisors, professionals with high scores were more likely to make award-winning suggestions for company improvements
