2. Step One  Make a brief introduction of The Silent Way with a PPT (10 minutes)  Explain to the classmates (5 minutes) 1. Both the target language and the native language are allowed in the silent way classroom. 2. The Sound-Color Chart 3. The Word Chart 4. Rods 5. The Fidel Charts

3. Step Two  Activity 1: The teacher does not say anything but just point to the upper sections of the sound-color chart. Students try to figure out the teacher’s instruction. (10 minutes)  During the activity, you have to 1. repeat the actions without giving any oral instruction 2. direct the students to voice out 5 vowel sounds and the diphthong

4. Step Three  Activity 2 The teacher does not say anything but just point to the down section of the sound-color chart. Students try to figure out the teacher’s instruction. (10 minutes)  During the activity, you have to 1. repeat the actions without giving any oral instruction 2. direct the students to voice out consonants 3. direct students to voice out the combination of vowels and the consonants

Step Four  Activity 3: Invite students to tape out their peer students’ names (5 minutes)  During the activity, you have to 1. give any individual student an opportunity to voice out one of their peer students’ names with the sound color chart. 2. direct students to take turns to point out the name spelling on the sound-color chart Help students pronounce out the combination of vowels and consonants

6. Step Five  Activity 4 : Show the students the word chart(5 minutes)  During the activity, you have to 1. tell students the function of the word chart 2. direct students to tap out some words on word chart

7. Step Six  Activity 5: Tell students the function of different color rods (5 minutes)  During the activity, you have to 1. lead the students to voice out different color rods 2. direct students to practice and tapping out some color words and phrases with taking out the suitable rods

8. Step Seven  Activity 6 : Show students the Fidel Charts and tell them the function of them (5 minutes)  During the activity, you have to 1. direct students to associate the sound of the language with their spelling 2. ask students to take turns to practice spelling with Fidel Charts
