Health Describe a healthy person. Health is a combination of physical, mental/emotional, and social well-being.
5
The Health Triangle
6
The Heath Triangle All three factors of the health triangle are important. Do not focus on just one side and neglect the others. Rather, work on getting the balance for each side and live a healthy life on all aspects.
7
Physical Health Usually the most neglected side of the triangle. Proper rest, exercise, and healthy foods are needed to have good physical health. To improve physical health: Choose to eat healthy foods instead of junk food Try to walk or bike more places instead of driving Avoid staying up late
8
Mental/Emotional health Your mental/emotional health involves how you handle your feelings, thoughts, and the situations you face each day. Stress is one of the biggest problems people face. To improve mental/emotional health you should: Start expressing yourself in a healthy way This includes sharing your thoughts and feelings with a friend or with your family Have a positive attitude
9
Social Health Good social health includes supporting people you care about. Includes communicating with, respecting, and valuing people. The ability to keep and make friends is another mark of good social health.
10
Health Triangle All three sides are connected. If one side of the triangle gets thrown off, the other two will as well. For example: If you skip breakfast you will be effecting your physical health. When you are hungry later on you can not focus effecting your mental health.
11
Wellness If you have a balanced triangle you will more likely have a high level of wellness. Wellness is a state of well-being, or total health. Wellness is an indication of your current health habits and behaviors. Any decision you make can affect your wellness.
