Objective: What is the role of a semipermeable membrane and what are the types of transport across the membrane?
2
Take the page and divide it into 6 equal boxes Number the boxes Notes: Cell Membrane and Transport12 34 56
3
FFFFunction: regulates what enters and leaves the cell SSSStructure: LLLLipid bilayer PPPProteins = form gates, channels or pumps that lets things in or out
4
Semi-permeable = only allows certain molecules to pass through. Molecules cannot pass through it they are too big or charged.
5
Passive Transport = pass through membrane without energy Active Transport = energy is used to pass through
6
Diffusion: molecules move from high concentration to low concentration Osmosis: the diffusion of water Facilitated Diffusion: protein helps molecules move through the membrane
7
Cell’s energy is used to move molecules from low to high concentration
8
Instructions: - Write a 3-4 sentence summarize what you new things you learned today - Number and highlight each period - Be specific!!! (Example: “I learned about cells” is not specific, what did you learn about cells?)
