2  Develop habits and skills of a successful high school student while still in middle school.  Learn to manage your time.  Discipline yourself – undisciplined students don’t do well with the laptop.

3  Quarter 1 + Quarter 2 = Semester 1  Quarter 3 + Quarter 4 = Semester 2  1 st year= 9 th grade = Freshman Must take 6 classes each semester  2 nd year = 10 th grade = Sophomore Must take 6 classes each semester  3 rd year = 11 th grade = Junior Must take 5 classes each semester  4 th year = 12 th grade = Senior Must take 5 classes each semester

4  22 credits are needed to graduate .5 (1/2) credit = passing 1 semester of 1 class  There are 7 class periods in a day  Most earn 6-7 credits in a year  6 X 4 years = 24 credits  Lunch does not count as a period  No credit is earned in study hall

6  English (4 credits)  Social Studies (3 credits)  Math (3 credits)  Science (3 credits)  Fine arts (1 credit)  Health (.5 credits)  Personal finance or Economics (.5 credits)  Physical Education (PE) (.5 credits)  CTE or World Languages (1 Credit)  Electives (15.5 Credits)  Depending on college-maybe World Language

7  College level class taken at high school  Need special approval  Credits count toward graduation  Count as college credit if you pass the “college test” and pay about $100 (3 cr.)  Normal college class costs about $130 (1 credit)/$6000 a semester at SDSU

8  College entrance exam  Taken during or after your 3 rd year  Assess students’ educational development  Ability to complete college-level work  4 Parts-English, Reading, Math, Science  Cumulative score of 18-36

9  A4.0093-100  B3.0085-92.99  C2.0076-84.99  D1.0065-75.99  F00-64.99  Semester Grades are what gets put on your transcript.
