Sir Isaac Newton – –Lived from 1643 – 1727 from England –Born to farming family. Hated farming. –Considered Lazy student. Beaten up at school, became the top student. - Bad tempered, hard to get along with. Did not take criticism well. 19

Attended Cambridge University to study mathematics. He considered the creator of Calculus.

Isaac Newton become known in the scientific community through his refractive telescope – a big improvement on existing telescopes. Throughout his life Newton continued research into a wide range of subjects including mathematics, optics, astronomy and alchemy. 19

Newton’s book – Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica (Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy), has been called the single most influential book on physics. Physics is the math behind calculating out science problems….. 19

Newton died in 1727, at the age of 85 English poet Alexander Pope wrote the following epithet for Newton. “Nature and nature’s laws lay hid in night; God said “Let Newton be” and all was light.”
