REAL TIME PROCESSING  In real time processing, the system is automatically updated when a change is made due to a transaction occurring.  The advantage of real time processing is that the current situation is always being shown.  At a travel agency we can find out which flights or holidays are actually available.  Many shop systems use real-time processing: as soon as an item is sold the system automatically deducts that item from stock so the stock file always shows the true stock position. BATCH PROCESSING 1  The batch processing means that the system is doing all the processing in one go.  Batch processing is used when a particular job needs to be done in one go rather than in a number of parts.  All the relevant data is collected and processed together.  The main advantage of batch processing is that the computer operator can load the data in only one operation, no matter how many meter reading sheets there are in a batch. 4. BATCH PROCESSING 2  Batch processing has other uses. For example like preparing a company’s payroll. All the relevant information such as hours worked, pay per hour, tax and so on are collected for each employee and put into the computer and is usually carried out on a week once a month. Next
