Foundational AK Skills - II Challenge Indirect Muscle Test 5 Factors of the IVF
2
Challenge n A testing procedure to determine the effect of some input, either physical, chemical or mental, on the function of a muscle.
3
Characteristics of Challenge n Based on the idea that the body: –should be able to accept a stimulus without disruption of the nervous system’s coordination of the muscular system n Usually done by the Doctor –Exception; Deep breath to move cranium n When used to find a listing, –Use an INDICATOR muscle - For precise vector
4
Challenge to find a listing, n Use an INDICATOR muscle - For precise vector n Associated muscle will “completely” strengthen –Even if vector is just “in the ball park” n Indicator muscle will: –“Partially” weaken if “in the ball park” –“Completely” weaken if the vector is precise!
5
Spinal Vs. Extremity Challenge n SPINAL –REBOUND CHALLENGE –Adjust into weakness n EXTREMITY –DIRECT CHALLENGE –Adjust into strength
6
Indirect Muscle Test n Subclavius, Levator Ani n A weak muscle does NOT TL n Muscle weakness WILL TL!
7
How do you TL muscle weakness? –Find an INDICATOR muscle –TL suspected weak muscle –Check indicator Strong? Weak? –Contract suspected weak muscle –Test indicator Strong? Weak?
8
Subclavius - Indirect mus. test
