SUGGESTED STEPS FOR THE DEVELPOMENT OF THE MODEL HOUSE SERIES PROJECT
4
After reading the requirements for the assignment, andhave analyzed the drawing sample, proceed to preparea plan of action. What’s to be done first, second etc.?Do you understand the required activities ?Do you have any questions? Only when it is clear in your mind how to start drawingshould you begin.Always know what you are doing before you do it. PLAN, THINK AND KEEP AHEAD
5
The first question to answer is whether to start a Newdrawing by selecting File, New from the pull-down MenuBar or make use of your drawing Template. The Template settings were changed by you to include, many useful items such as, Grid, Snap, a StandardDimension Style, Layers, Osnap settings, Units, Limits,Text styles, Point Styles, and Line Types.By Default, minimum settings are part of a New Drawing. The choice seems obvious USE your Template.
6
OPEN YOUR TEMPLATE DRAWING AND SELECT SAVE AS FROM THE FILE PULL-DOWN MENU SAVE THE DRAWING USING YOUR INITIALS FOLLOWED BY THE NAME OF THE DRAWING i.e. FM_MODEL HOUSE
7
The Save Drawing As dialog box opens and you will save the drawing in your directory.
8
CONSIDER CHANGES THAT NEED TO BE MADE TO LAYERS OR LIMITS OR OTHER SETTINGS YOU DEEM NECESSARY. MAKE THEM NOW
9
Students can develop the views of the Model House by differentmethods.By examining the design we can see that the Model House has (7)basic parts. The larger portion of the house The roof over this part. The smaller portion The roof over this part The steps The canopy over the steps The chimney
10
LETS TAKE A VISUAL LOOK AT THE PARTS
18
Imagining the model house as individual parts makes it easier to draw. The best method for drawing is to draw as much as you can starting in the front view and then continue in the right side view
19
The lines in color represent the extent to which you are able to draw in each view. Projecting edges from both views will help complete the views.
20
Other methods are available for students to develop the views. Using Offset, Copy, and Trim may be a solution Buy requires much editing and students may become confused with the number of lines displayed.
21
DEVELOPING THE TOP VIEW
22
THE MITER LINE Miter lines are used to quickly step off distances or points from edges in one view to the miter line and then to another view to help develop that missing top or right side view.
24
Using the Trim command is a quick way to clean up the view of unwanted lines. Drawing over the lines in another color will develop the view.
26
DEVELOPING THE (6) VIEWS OF THE MODEL HOUSE Developing the other views of the model house is easy when you use the Copy and Mirror commands. FIRST MAKE A COPY OF THE FINISHED THREE VIEWS
27
SELECT COMMAND
28
SELECT OBJECTS
29
OBJECTS INDICATES SELECTED DEPRESS ENTER KEY
30
SELECT BASE POINT FOR MOVING
31
DRAG CURSOR TO POSITION
33
NEXT MIRROR THE THREE VIEWS ON THE LEFT ONE VIEW AT A TIME
36
USE OF CROSSING WINDOW
37
OBJECTS SELECTED DEPRESS ENTER KEY
40
Cursor slightly dragged downward then select left button and depress enter key
41
MIRRORED VIEW
54
USE MOVE AND POSITION THE VIEWS THE SAME DISTANCE APART
55
EDIT THE LINES WITHIN THE VIEWS THAT ARE HIDDEN AND MAKE ANY ADDITIONAL CHANGES TO SHOW THE VIEW CORRECTLY
57
EDIT THE VIEWS SO THAT EACH IS ON ITS OWN LAYER. IF NEEDED ADD IN NEW LAYERS.
58
YOUR DRAWING NOW LOOKS LIKE THIS
59
DIMENSIONING THE THREE VIEWS
60
MAKE A COPY OF THE (3) VIEWS AND MOVE THEM TO THE RIGHT
62
SET THE LAYER CURRENT TO DIMENSIONS
63
CHECK TO SEE THAT THE OSNAP SETTINGS ARE THOSE YOU WANT TO USE
67
YOU WILL NEED TO MODIFY THE DIMENSION STYLE SETTINGS TO REFLECT THE SAMPLE DRAWING
74
TO ILLUSTRATE THE USE OF BOTH THE PULL-DOWN MENU FOR DIMENSIONING AND THE DIMENSION TOOL BAR WE WILL OPEN THE DIMENSION TOOLBAR AND PLACE IT WITHIN THE AUTOCAD GRAPHICS WINDOW
77
REMEMBER REGUARDLESS OF THE METHOD USED FOR SELECTING A COMMAND THE INFORMATION APPERS IN BOTH THE SIDE SCREEN MENU AND AT THE COMMAND LINE.
82
LETS BEGIN DIMENSIONING WE WILL START IN THE FRONT VIEW
83
MAKE SURE FUNCTION KEY F3 OSNAP AND ORTHO MODE F9 ARE ON
