Margaret Cavendish Margaret Cavendish was a debater and a scientist. Margaret wrote the books Observations upon Experimental Philosophy and Grounds of Natural Philosophy. In these books she attacked rationalists and scientists. These people believed that they could control nature.

Maria Merian Maria Merian was an entomologist. She worked with insects and plants. She went to South America to collect samples. Many people we suspired that a women was in science and traveled for it.

Maria Winkelmann She was an astronomer. She found a comet, and her husband confirmed it later. The comet was found in 1702. She tried to get into the Berlin Academy, but they denied her because they did not a woman in their school.
