Groundlings “Groundlings” were poor people who stood and watched from the courtyard called the “pit.” Groundlings threw rotten vegetables at bad performances Women were not allowed (had to dress up as men to attend)

Staging Areas Stage--platform that extended into the pit Dressing and storage rooms in galleries behind and above stage Second-level Gallery—good for balcony scenes like in R & J Trap door—ghosts come out of it, underneath is called “Hell”
