City Life (Citizenship): Responsible Citizenship Henry Wilson Memorial 6 th grade: Social Studies September 16, 2013

Lesson Goals The students will be able to evaluate what it means to be a responsible citizen. The students will be able to evaluate behaviors of a responsible citizen. The students will be able to understand the full actions expected of a successful Enterprise City citizen.

Lesson Vocabulary citizen: Resident of a city or town, especially one entitled to vote.

Lesson Vocabulary law: The code of conduct or rules established in a community that is enforced. The citizens of the community must follow these rules for safety and running of the community.

Lesson Vocabulary taxes: A contribution that supports a government, required of persons or businesses within the domain of that government.

Lesson Vocabulary business: A particular field of endeavor, a commercial activity engaged in as a means of livelihood.
