Last summer, technology was an amusement park- a blur of confusion.

But over the year, my technology skills have taken a quantum leap, from…

…the isolated, fearful dark ages, to…

…the joyous, connected 21 st century!

How did I get there?

I used my technology road map to develop my skill set and enhance the work of our school.

I. Leadership & Vision: Status Report Goal A: Support the use of data more effectively through technology Action Steps:Status: A1. Participate in Excel tutorials. Completed A2. Using the program, sort 2009 District Fall Assessment scores to organize instructional groups. Completed A3. Maintain data for administration and teacher use throughout the year.Completed A4. Share student data during Trimester teacher meetings Completed Note: Deb C. tutorial in Excel provided help to address this goal.

I. Leadership & Vision- Next Steps: Goal A: Continue to use and share organized data to support instruction using Excell Use the teacher folder on the server to post forms, intervention strategies and instructional tools.

II. Learning & Teaching: Status Report Goal A: Seek out additional innovations to further support/enhance instructional practice. Action Steps: Status: A1. Consult “Tech Leader” to review innovations. Revision Needed A2. Seek out information from colleagues about what works best for specific subject areas. On-going Notes: Tech Leader was largely a sales catalog; need other sources Consulted Tosha T., Tom G., Deb C. and Granby PS Provide time for Deb C. to share the use of technology to plan and maintain assignments with middle school teachers

II. Learning & Teaching- Next Steps: Goal A: Identify additional print and/or electronic resources to support higher level thinking challenges for students Continue to network with colleagues and build a resource file on the server to make this accessible for teachers

Learning & Teaching: Status Report Goal B: Facilitate the use of technology to support students’ higher level thinking and problem solving skills Support the use of data more effectively through technology Action Steps:Status: B 1. Arrange for technology in-service for the early fall to address problem solving opportunities for students. Completed B 2. Investigate software and teaching strategies to enhance instructional practice. On-going Notes: Tosha T.’s in-service days were helpful Penny Z.’s in-service and PGO assisted year-long Cindy S., Deb C., Fran L. and Jillian B. assisted year long to locate software and strategies

II. Learning & Teaching- Next Steps: Goal B: Implement the use of the Smart Board school-wide to enhance instruction Expand the use of Clickers Expand the use of Brain Pop and Brain Pop, Jr. school-wide Implement the use of Google Apps in the middle school

III. Productivity & Professional Practice: Status Report Goal A: Pursue personal professional development opportunities to broaden tech expertise. Action Steps:Status Report: A1. Apply to CREC for additional grant funding for professional development. Completed A2. Develop a calendar of staff sharing days on the professional calendar similar to the Language Arts planning for teachers to learn from one another. On-going Notes: Four In-service Days were provided by Tosha from CREC The calendar for Jill/Jillian and Liz/Fran was developed, implemented and highly successful

III. Productivity & Professional Practice-Next Steps Goal A: Continue to pursue grant funding to support embedded PD Set up peer mentorships and provide time for novice teachers to develop their expertise and for experts to continue to grow in the summer and throughout the year

IV. Support, Management & Operations: Status Report Goal A: Explore additional sources of funding to support the technology plan and professional development Action Step:Status: A1. Meet with the Superintendent to identify possible additional sources through new grants. On-going Notes: Rural Ed Grant assisted in this area

IV. Support, Management & Operations-Next Steps: Goal A: Allocate more funding in the school budget to support technology in the school Seek out additional funding sources

V. Assessment & Evaluation-Status Report Goal A: Improve the use of technology to analyze data. Action Step:Status: A1. Use Excel graphs to sort student progress on District assessments to inform instructional groupings. On-going Notes: Completed and extremely fast in sorting data, even in our small groups

V. Assessment & Evaluation-Next Steps: Goal A: Use the technology to monitor and share the progress of all students, with special attention to SRBI students Assist teachers to use the technology to monitor student progress

VI. Social, Legal & Ethical Issues- Status Report Goal A: Regularly review changes in policies and practices to ensure the safety of all users. Action Steps:Status: A1. Regularly consult ISTE website Ongoing A2. Schedule Tech Safety Seminars for teachers and students to educate all for responsible Digital Citizenship. Ongoing Notes: Tom G. Digital Citizenship Workshop for teachers and students in Oct. was helpful

VI. Social, Legal & Ethical Issues- Next Steps: Goal A: Monitor the SDE and ISTE websites for updates and share information with parents, teachers and students each trimester both in-print and on the school website
