Linking Verbs connect a sentence’s subject with a noun or an adjective in the predicate. are followed by a word in the predicate that tells what a subject is or is like.

Predicate Nouns Predicate Adjectives Tell what the subject is.
Is still a person, place, or (more usually) a thing. Predicate Adjectives Tell what the subject is like. Describe the subject.
