1. Taking Part is an independent learning difficulty service. We are a registered charity working throughout Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin. Taking Part provide independent services to people with learning difficulties. We want them to;- Have a voice with more choice Be more independent Understand their rights To be included and treated equally

2. Taking Part's ethos is person centred, but we believe in a holistic approach working with the person’s wider circle of support. We have experience working with children with projects M&G and Artstart We have experience working with adults with self- advocacy and support planning

3. At the end of last year we were successfully awarded funding from CDC to run a project helping families with creative support planning and understanding personal budgets. Between April 2014 and March 2015 we will run 8 half day awareness raising workshops in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin supporting 20 families to each explore whether a Personal Budget would work for their family. This project would link in with partners and compliment the SEN Reforms and move towards EHCP - which we know are still in their infancy.
