Chelan Butte - Afternoon of August 14th Chelan Butte - Morning of August 14th There were initially three lightning strike fires on the Chelan Butte above the City of Chelan…these fires eventually grew into one large wind driven fire episode by earlier afternoon.

Level III Evacuation Notifications issued by deputies in the south City of Chelan and Antoine Creek Rd areas by the early afternoon hours on August 14 th. Hundreds of additional Level II and Level III evacuation notifications followed through the evening and during the next day. Approximately 2000 residences were under evacuation orders.

Emergency Alert System activations were used in northern Chelan County and western Douglas County using concise and specific message to advise citizens to evacuate.

The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with Chelan County Public Works developed road signs in 2012 which correspond directly with evacuation levels in place for an affected area.

Public Meetings: Chelan, Manson, Stehekin, Entiat & Leavenworth

Currently were are involved with the “recovery” effort. Tied in with State EMD, FEMA, and the SBA.
