Organizing your life can help you... Improve your success in school! Avoid last-minute cram-a-thons Persuade teachers and parents that you’re becoming more mature and independent which means... You’ll be trusted and earn more privileges and freedom!

Get Organized at Home! Can you find the school supplies??? Being disorganized can cause you to lose things and waste your time looking for them.

Keep your room neat and organized. Designate a place for your various belongings. Set up a home study center. Get Organized at Home! Tips for Your Home Study Center Find a quiet place that’s free from distractions. Make sure you have enough light. Have a straight backed chair at a table or desk. Post a do not disturb sign while studying. Hang a bulletin board and calendar. Build a small library with reference books. Have a computer available if able. Get storage containers to hold your supplies and work.

Get Organized At School! Tips for Organize your Learning Environment... Keep it simple-the more you have, the more likely you are to lose it. During class put things away in the proper place in your binder or backpack. After school clean out your notebooks and backpack. Each night before you go to bed, clean you study center and make sure you have everything in your backpack ready to go. Post your schedule in your locker and keep it free of clutter. Take home extra things you don’t need.

Get Organized At School! Tips for Organizing your Assignments... Use your assignment notebook to keep track of daily assignments. Write down all directions for assignments and ask the teacher if there is something you do not understand. Create a “To Do” list and prioritize assignments Keep track of long range assignments Break big projects down into smaller parts Eliminate other activities to have time for assignments

Get Organized At School! Tips for Organizing your Time... Set priorities Use a planning calendar or assignment book to record the daily schedule and keep track of important dates and activities. Plan some “downtime” Be flexible – things can change Don’t overschedule yourself Find and use little chunks of time when you can get small tasks done. Don’t procrastinate Plan time to get organized!

At your locker: Check to make sure you have everything you need before you leave for the day. At home: Check to make sure all assignments are completed and ready to go in the morning.
