PST Heaters – Proposed Segmentation Forward = 2289mm. 6 hoops. 10 heaters Barrel = 1606mm. 4 hoops. 7 heaters

Services Document 2_17 The services document assumes the following Barrel 12 supply lines Each forward 24 supply lines Each supply line means 2 wires, one in and one out. Total wires are then 2x(12+2x24)=120 Total number of temperature sensors(each has two wires) is 120 in this document, so this is 240 wires.

Proposed Ganging of Heaters Top heaters: gang two => two wires per 2 segments Right heaters: gang two => two wires per 2 segments Left heaters: gang two => two wires per 2 segments Bottom heaters: gang two but take out another wire so that could be hooked up in case of failure. So for 2 segments there are 9 wires and 4 power supplies, one wire being normally disconnected. Connection to SCT heaters: one heater circuit on each connection => 8 total wires.

Proposed Wires and Circuits 7 barrel segments. 2x10 end segments PST heater wires and power supplies from barrel region 3x9 + one special segment of 8 wires = 35 wires 3x4 + 4 power supplies = 16 power supplies PST heater wires and power supplies from each end region 5x9 = 45 wires 5x4 = 20 power supplies SCT mount heaters 4x2 = 8 wires 4 power supplies Temperature sensor per panel=> 108 sensors + 4 for mount heaters. Total temperature sensors = 112 => 224 wires

Proposed Power We assume each panel is 20 ohms(to be verified on prototype) Desire about 20W per panel Two panels in series are 40 ohms. A power supply voltage of 48V gives about 1A with a bit of margin.

Summary of Request Service doc has 120 heater wires and 240 temperature sensor wires. This has a few more heater wires and fewer temperature sensor wires..
