September 3, 2014 What is MIB The Broad cast control channel (BCCH )carries RRC system information messages. These messages are MIBs and SIBs. MIB is a Master Information Block carries Downlink Bandwidth,System frame Number,PHICH config New MIB is broadcasted every radio frame for which SFN mod 4 = 0

September 3, 2014 Master Information block Critical Channel Information –Channel bandwidth (1.4 MHz to 20 MHz) –System frame number (SFN) –PHICH configuration New MIB sent every 40ms. MIB is repeated in each of the three frames between new transmissions. - 5 - MIB PBCH Critical Channel Information Channel bandwidth System Frame Number PHICH Configuration New MIB sent every 40 ms. MIB is repeated in each of the three frames between new transmissions

September 3, 2014 System Information The System Information includes: Informational bout the the downlink and the Uplink bandwidths. Uplink /Downlink configuration in case of TDD Parameters related to random-access transmission and uplink power control, etc. System Information can be delivered by two different mechanism relaying on different transport channels The main part of the System information A limited part of system information SIB using DL-SCH MIB using BCH

September 3, 2014 SIBs information All SIBs are transmitted on BCCH->DL-SCH->PDSCH. SIB 1 Cell Access Related Information - PLMN Identity List, PLMN Identity, TA Code, Cell identity & Cell Status Cell Selection Information - Minimum Receiver Level Scheduling Information - SI message type & Periodicity, SIB mapping Info, SI Window length SIB 2 Access Barring Information - Access Probability factor, Access Class Baring List, Access Class Baring Time Semi static Common Channel Configuration - Random Access Parameter, PRACH Configuration UL frequency Information - UL EARFCN, UL Bandwidth, additional emmission

September 3, 2014 Scheduling of SIB · The first transmission of SIB1 is scheduled in subframe #5 of radio frames for which the SFN mod 8 = 0, and · Repetitions are scheduled in subframe #5 of all other radio frames for which SFN mod 2 = 0.

September 3, 2014 SIB type 1 Cell Identities –PLMN list –Tracking Area Code (TAC) –Cell Identity SIB Schedules –Periodicity –Window length Cell Selection Parameters –Minimum acceptable receive level –Maximum transmit power –Barring Status –Frequency band - 13 - SIB1 PDSCH Cell Identities PLMN list Tracking Area Code Cell Identity Cell Selection Parameters Minimum acceptable receive level Maximum transmit power Barring Status Frequency band SIB Schedules Periodicity (every 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, or 512 frames) Window length (1, 2, 5, 10, 15, 20, or 40ms) A new SIB1 sent every 80 ms. Repeated every 20 ms in Subframe 5 of even-numbered radio frames

September 3, 2014 Summary System information block will read from PDSCH (Physical Downlink shared channel) SIBs 3 to 8 help to specify the cell reselection procedures that are used by mobiles in RRC_IDLE while SIBs 6, 7 and 8 respectively cover reselection to UMTS (both WCDMA and TD- SCDMA), GSM and cdma2000
