2 How to Audit Auditing according to core principles (tied in to the university’s vision) Examples: Enhancing progression into, through, and beyond university study Contributing to improving organisations, services and the life of local and regional communities, in line with our values Providing development (including ‘workforce development’) and other opportunities for workers and volunteers in partner organisations Enriching the student and staff experience, including through ‘applied’ curriculum opportunities Maintaining and developing opportunities for collaborative research and evaluation, and thereby informing best practice Maintaining and developing the sustainability of partnership work: costs (including opportunity costs) and benefits related to York St John’s strategic aims

3 Monitoring & Reporting One person to act as a contact for each group of partnerships or civic engagement That person would link with the many other individuals involved in those partnerships, and be responsible for auditing the work in this area, according to the agreed principles An initial audit to be completed by March 2011, to the Strategic Leadership Team, via Steve and Julian Thereafter, reporting on an audit would be done at least annually, through the community engagement committee It is assumed that the audits, if to be of any use, would result in either the maintenance, enhancement or the cessation of particular partnerships or civic engagements
