* What is the sequence of speed control? * A motorist should start slowly, gradually increase speed within the legal speed limit and flow of traffic.

* Business/Residential/School25 mph * Suburban Business/Residential35 mph * All other roadways50 mph * Certain state highways55 mph * Certain highways (as posted)65 mph * If you are stopped by an officer for speeding in a 65 mph speed limit zones, your fines will be DOUBLED!!

* You will need to slow down during the following special driving conditions: * Narrow, winding roads * Intersections * Hills * Sharp or blind curves * Pedestrians or hazards present * Wet/slippery roads * School zones

* One Car Length Rule * One car length should be left between you and the vehicle in front of you for each 10 mph of speed * Example: 50 mph = 5 car lengths * Three Seconds Rule * Pick a fixed object on the roadway; 3 seconds should pass from the time the car in front of you passes that object to the time that your car passes the object. Why 3 seconds??

* All front seat occupants must wear a seat belt. * The driver is responsible for passengers under the age of 18. * Front seat passengers 18 and older are responsible for themselves. * Seat belts help to: * Keep a motorist from being thrown from the vehicle. * Slows the body down. * Keeps the body from sliding during sudden stops and turns. But I don't need to wear my seatbeltBut I don't need to wear my seatbelt (JUST WATCH)

* Children under the age of 8 who are less than 57 inches (4-9) must ride in: * A federally approved forward facing child restraint system that is equipped with a 5-point harness in the rear seat OR * A federally approved booster seat in the rear seat. * A child under age 4 who weighs less than 40 pounds must ride in: * A federally approved rear facing child passenger restraint system that is equipped with a 5-point harness in the rear seat. Once the child outgrows they must ride in a federally approved forward facing child restraint system that is equipped with a 5-point harness OR * In a federally approved forward facing child restraint system that is equipped with a 5-point harness

* Children under the age of 2 who weigh less than 30 pounds must ride in a federally approved rear facing child passenger restraint system that is equipped with a 5-point harness in the rear seat. * All children under the age of 8 must be seated in the rear seat. If there is no rear seat children must be secured in the proper front facing restraint system in the front. * Children can NOT be secured in a rear facing restraint system in the front seat of a motor vehicle. * Failure to comply with this law can subject you to a fine of $50-75, plus fees and court costs.

* Air bags are designed to supplement safety belts. * You can tell if your vehicle has an air bag by: * Airbag * SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) * SIR (Supplemental Inflatable System) How do these things work?
