2 Prepublications include all reports that are not ready for public viewing, including o Author-Title biblio info o Patent sensitive, not yet reviewed o Not yet reviewed within Divisions Post-publications include completed, non- copyrighted versions of papers ready for public viewing. All papers required to be sent to OSTI and e-scholarship repositories. o No commercial publication formats o No sensitive information Prepubs & Postpubs

3 Prepublication and Post-publication processes are managed by Reports Coordination Document Submission - Pub Numbers supplied Division Review workflow, administration Patents Review workflow, administration Notification of Intent to Publish Page Charges Preprints, Reprints Currently

4 Division Review to be managed per Divisions Patent Review to be managed by authors Notification of Intent to Publish will continue to be managed by Reports Coordination Page Charges, Reprints, Post-prints Submission of generic version of manuscripts (with illustrations, etc) will be required for submission for a publication (LBNL) number. Authors will manage timing. No pub numbers without a full “ready for public” paper. RCO will explore methods of generic-ising papers. Planned

5 Changed Processes & Applications IT – IS Dept. will develop a secure system for receiving and hosting scientific and technical papers. o Currently funded for IT portion Library, ready-for public-papers only o Will be cost-projected for other extra- divisional needs, funding still needed Division Review processes Patents Review processes

6 Recap No further sensitive, not-ready-for-public papers will be accepted Including author-title-biblio info w/o papers No publication numbers will be given for incomplete, sensitive, private, not-ready-for- public papers. No information about these papers will be stored on the Library reports catalog Db. Notification of Intent-To-Publish submission forms generate e-mail info, which is printed and stored in a physical file, not on server. (Library e-Req.)
