4. Jake  Jake is a 14 year old boy.  He is someone with lots of disabilities and he needs a wheelchair.  His Dad works in the woods but his current wheelchair can’t come with him.

5. My Uncle Neil is building him a special 4x4 wheelchair which will be able to: Go over tree roots Cope with grass and mud Fold up small enough to fit in the boot of his dad’s car

6. The wheelchair has been given the nickname: It is being designed especially for Jake’s needs.

7. It will have computer-controlled steering, because Jake can’t turn a steering wheel like you and I can. It will also have: 2 motors at the front and 1 at the back 4x4 drive front and back lights, a winch (a tow hook), suspension and it runs off battery power

8. It will also be Which means that if Jake is sitting around the campfire and needs his chair, he can press buttons to drive it back to himself.

10. Sup dude Sup dude Uncle Neil didn’t know Jake before he started on theproject.Jake’s Dad had put out a request for help on a Bushcraftsite on the internet.Someone who knew Uncle Neil saw it, and asked Neil forhis help. Uncle Neil took up the challenge, having not evenmet Jake or his Dad.

We think Uncle Neil is displaying the following Learning Behaviours: Independence: Because he took on the project by himself Stickability and Motivation: because he is determined to finish the project Creativity: Because he isn’t following a blueprint, he is designing it all himself Cooperation: Because he needs to work with Jake and his Dad to make it fit Jake’s needs perfectly

15.  So that Uncle Neil can finish this wheelchair for Jake, we are trying to raise some money to help pay for it.  We are planning a cake sale after half term.  Please bring in some money to buy our cakes!  It is important, and will help to change a boy’s life.
