2 2Managed by UT-Battelle for the Department of Energy Presentation_name Facility Information Database, a Management Tool  Many sites are already using electronic based information for management decisions.  TYSP, IFI Crosscut and other Site documents depend on data in FIMS or other local information systems that contain various facility information.  At ORNL, senior managers are using FIMS data for many routine decisions; and there is an expectation that the data is current, accurate and reproducible.  ORNL’S FIMS validation relied heavily on local enterprise databases as source documents

16 16Managed by UT-Battelle for the Department of Energy Validation Notebooks are Effective but still require a lot of work to develop and maintain  Notebooks are a very effective way to present information in an organized and concise manner  Forces the user to become organized  Use information from Spreadsheet to build validation notebook (over 250 individual sheets) not counting source documents  Notebook is outdated soon after validation is complete and whole process starts over again Presentation_name
