Who is Jane Austen She was born in Steventon in Hampshire in 1775 and died in Winchester, England in 1817. Was an authoress who published more than six works during her lifetime. Many of her works are considered classic literature. She never meeried.

Family Austen´s parents, George Austen (1731-1805) and his wife Cassandra (1739- 1827) were members of substantial gentry families. Austen family was large: six brothers and one sister. Cassandra Elizabeth was Austen´s closest friend all her life.

Pride and Prejudice Austen´s second published novel. The most successful to date. First Draft of the manuscript was titled „First Impressions“. Examines the social order upon diverse classes of society. Again Austen`s heroines face issues with property inheritance and limited income.

Jane Austen`s Festival in Bath The Festival is hold each year in autumn and continue from 12th to 20th September. The first Jane Austen Festival in Bath was held in September 2001 over the course of a weekend with events taking plance at the Jane Austen Centry in Gay Street.
