Mosque (8:00) A traditional Muslim place of worship. “He led prayers at the mosque.”

Foundation (18:43) The basis on which something is grounded. “Jay’s story wasn’t just the foundation of the state’s case against Adnan. It was the states case against Adnan.”

Adamant (21:32) Stubborn; unyielding; invincible, like a rock. “He’s adamant about this. You can hear it, right?”

Staunch (21:34) Firm; dependable “He’s adamant about this. You can hear it right? He’s staunch.”

Problematic (26:30) Something that poses a problem or causes difficulties; something that makes great mental demands; open to doubt or debate. “Adnan knows better than anyone how unhelpful all this is, how problematic.”

Tangible (27:08) Something that can be perceived by the senses, especially by touch. “There’s nothing tangible I can do to remember that day.”

Confide (31:26) To privately reveal to someone “Justin had confided that Asia was a proper young lady. In other words, Justin wasn’t getting any.”

Affidavit (32:34) A written declaration made under oath “Asia wrote out an affidavit on the spot.”

Undermine (35:45) To sabotage or weaken efforts “Asia had called one of the prosecution and undermined her own statement.”

Discredit (36:32) To reject as false; to ruin the reputation of. “She can’t fathom why Asia would discredit her own statement like that.”

Bloodhound (37:45) A large, powerful hound known for its amazing sense of smell, used for tracking. “I had become fixated on finding Asia. I’m like a bloodhound on this thing.”

Trawling (38:16) To fish with a net; to sift through something looking for clues. “I’m checking the same loop of Facebook, MyLife, LinkedIn sites over and over again, trawling fro clues about where she might be.”

Diligence (42:50) Paying proper attention to an activity; careful and consistent work. “I trust the court system to do their due diligence.”

Heinous (47:08) Very evil or wicked. “I’m 32 years old now, and I know there’s people out there capable of heinous acts that can keep a calm demeanor.”

Elation (49:56) A feeling of joy and/or pride. “I definitely kind of hear the elation in your voice. But now I feel like I punctured your balloon.”

Manipulate (51:32) To skillfully control or influence other people or oneself. “I just hope that Adnan isn’t some sick bastard trying to manipulate his way out of jail.”
